PAINTERS AND PRINTMAKERS

  • John Bellany shows paintings at Gainsborough’s House, Sudbury, Suffolk (14 June–20 Sep)
  • A solo show of Elizabeth Blackadder’s new paintings is at the Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh (8 Aug–6 Sep)
  • Stephen Chambers shows prints at the University of Northumbria Gallery, Newcastle (6 June–18 July). His new book, Leaping Down to Earth, is published by Permanent Press and Pratt Contemporary Art
  • Maurice Cockrill takes part in ‘Motherland: Contemporary Painters from the West Winter in Russia’ at Francis Kyle Gallery, London (until 5 June)
  • Michael Craig-Martin’s new print series ‘Alphabets’ and ‘Tokyo Sunsets’ are at Alan Cristea Gallery (11 June –19 July)
  • Work by Frederick Cuming is at the Adam Gallery, London (4–14 June) and Bath (21 June–10 July)
  • David Hockney’s exhibition ‘Looking at Woldgate Woods’ is at the Arts Club of Chicago, Illinois (until 18 July; +1 312 787 3997). His photo collage, Pearblossom Hwy, is on show at the Getty Center, Los Angeles, California (until 10 Aug; www.getty.edu)
  • John Hoyland’s painting The Big Picture, is on display at The Don Restaurant and Bistro, London
  • Albert Irvin shows paintings on the Manton Staircase, Tate Britain, London (throughout 2008)
  • A solo show of Bill Jacklin’s paintings and monotypes is at the University of Northumbria Gallery, Newcastle (until 30 May)
  • Christopher Le Brun exhibits ‘Fifty Etchings, 2005’ at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (until 28 Sep)
  • Barbara Rae has a solo show at Adam Gallery, Bath (7–19 June)
  • Anthony Whishaw takes part in the Richmond Hill Gallery Summer Show (19 June–7 Sep)
  • Diana Armfield, Bernard Dunstan and Ken Howard participate in the Lyme Regis Art Week at Tulips Gallery, Lyme Regis, Dorset (until 31 May)
  • Tracey Emin and David Hockney contribute to the exhibition ‘Love’ at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (until 13 July)
  • Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley and Gary Hume show work in ‘St Ives to Saatchi’ at Caroline Wiseman Modern and Contemporary, London (until 18 July)
  • Works by Peter Blake, David Hockney, Paul Huxley and Joe Tilson are included in ‘Colin St. John Wilson: Collector and Architect’ at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, West Sussex (until 8 June)

SCULPTORS

  • John Carter’s solo exhibition ‘Surface, Structure, Colour’ is at Gudrun Spielvogel Galerie and Edition, Munich, Germany (until 30 May; www.spielvogel-galerie.de)
  • Ann Christopher has been commissioned to make an edition of twelve bronze sculptures to celebrate the completion of King’s Place, King’s Cross, London
  • Antony Gormley has solo shows at Castle Coronet, Guernsey (until 26 Oct; www.iairp.com), Soho Chaowai, Beijing (20 July–28 Aug; www.chaowasioho.com) and Kunsthall Rotterdam (14 July–14 Sep; www.kunsthal.nl). He also participates in ‘Locked-In’ at Casino Luxembourg, Forum d’Art Contemporain (until 4 July; www.casino-luxembourg.lu) and ‘Turner Prize: A Retrospective’ at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (until 13 July; www.mori.art.museum)
  • Nigel Hall is participating in ‘Drawn to Sculpture’ at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, Northamptonshire (until 15 June)
  • Horse, a drawing by Bryan Kneale, is on show as part of the permanent collection at Tate Britain (until Feb 2009)
  • John Maine has begun work on a promenade in Weston Super-Mare, Somerset. His sculpture Observatory is being installed in Hue, Vietnam as part of the Hue Festival (3–11 June; www.huefestival.com)
  • Works by Dhruva Mistry are on show as part of the permanent collection at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester
  • A retrospective of David Nash is at Kunsthalle Emden, Germany (until 22 June; www.kunsthalleemden.de)
  • William Tucker shows six large bronzes at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Westchester, New York (until 1 Dec; www.westchestergov.com/parks)
  • Works by Gary Hume, Richard Long, Phillip King and William Tucker are on display at the New Art Centre, Roche Court, Salisbury, Wiltshire
  • Richard Deacon and Bill Woodrow collaborate on the exhibition ‘Lead Astray: Shared Sculptures by Bill Woodrow and Richard Deacon’ at the Pier Arts Centre, Orkney (until 7 June)
  • Tracey Emin and Richard Wilson take part in the Folkestone Triennial 2008 (14 June–14 Sep)
  • Phillip King and Bryan Kneale have sculpture commissions on show at the Cass Sculpture Foundation, Goodwood, West Sussex

ARCHITECTS

  • The Public, a new gallery in West Bromwich designed by Will Alsop, opens on 28 June
  • A new book on Trevor Dannatt, Works and Words), by Roger Stonehouse is published by Black Dog
  • Norman Foster’s firm have unveiled designs for the Abu Dhabi World Trade Center and the Annette Strauss Artist Square, Dallas. They have redesigned Zurich’s historic Dolder Grand hotel and have also produced a master plan for redevelopment of Folkestone harbour, Kent, including new arts education facilities
  • Zaha Hadid has designed a carpet for Arzu Rugs as part of their ‘Hope by Designers’ collections, with proceeds going to charity projects in Afghanistan. Hadid also takes part in ‘Artists’ Playground’ at Sudeley Castle, Gloucestershire (31 May–31 Oct). Her Zaragoza Bridge Pavilion opens 13–14 June, in Spain. She has also won a design competition to create the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania
