21 July 2012
10am – 10pm
To celebrate both the Summer Exhibition and the opening of From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism at the Royal Academy we are staging a special day of activities. Watch musical entertainment in the courtyard and film screenings about the work of major Impressionist painters, or collect an art detective trail to complete as a family.
Learn about the work of famous Impressionists such as Manet, Renoir and Monet and listen to specialist talks and films about their lives, practices and inspirations.
To celebrate the opening of 'From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism' at the Royal Academy, enjoy live classical music in the courtyard, between 10am and 1pm.
Budding young artists and their parents/carers can get involved and take part by exploring moods and feelings through a vibrant multimedia drawing workshop.
Families can also collect an art detective trail to complete as a family in both exhibitions, Summer Exhibition 2012 and 'From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism - Paintings from the Clark'.
Find out more about the Royal Academy on a free tour of the John Madejski Fine Rooms. Tours last for an hour and focus on selected works from the RA Collection and also give an insight into the history of the Royal Academy and Burlington House.
