To celebrate both the Summer Exhibition
and the opening of From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism
at the Royal Academy we are staging a special day of activities. Watch musical entertainment in the courtyard and film screenings about the work of major Impressionist painters, or collect an art detective trail to complete as a family.
Learn about the work of famous Impressionists such as Manet, Renoir and Monet and listen to specialist talks and films about their lives, practices and inspirations.
Morning
Live Music, 10am-1pm 
Klezmer Kollectiv
To celebrate the opening of 'From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism' at the Royal Academy, enjoy live classical music in the courtyard, between 10am and 1pm.
Sensational Colour Workshop, 11am-2pm
Budding young artists and their parents/carers can get involved and take part by exploring moods and feelings through a vibrant
multimedia drawing workshop.
Families can also collect an art detective
trail to complete as a family in both exhibitions, Summer Exhibition 2012 and 'From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism - Paintings from the Clark'.

Docent Tour of the John Madejski Fine Rooms, 11.30am
Find out more about the Royal Academy on a free tour of the John Madejski Fine Rooms. Tours last for an hour and focus on selected works from the RA Collection and also give an insight into the history of the Royal Academy and Burlington House.
- Free, no booking required, places are first come first served on the day. Purchase of an exhibition ticket is necessary. Meeting point: John Madejski Fine Rooms entrance.

Spotlight Tours
Summer Exhibition 2012 1 and 3pm
From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism - Paintings from the Clark 2 and 3.30pm
In both the 'Summer Exhibition' and 'From Paris: A Taste for Impressionism' the spotlight tours will provide an introduction to the exhibition and explore the thoughts and techniques behind the works.
- Free, no booking required, places are first come first served on the day. Purchase of an exhibition ticket is necessary. Meeting point: Exhibition entrance.
Film Screenings
In collaboration with ZCZ Films
we will be screening the series 'The Impressionists: Painting and Revolution' from 4pm throughout the afternoon, exploring the revolutionary achievements of the Impressionists, through the stories of some of Art’s most famous painters. Each episode is one hour long.

Live Jazz and DJ, 6.30-10pm
As part of our evening activities enjoy a live Jazz performance in the courtyard by Tom Hannah
and an eclectic selection of music from a DJ in the Friends’ room all evening from 6.30pm.
