Sir Norman Rosenthal
Having joined in May 1977, he celebrates 30 years at the Royal Academy, where he directs the loan exhibition programme and continues to mount ground-breaking exhibitions.
President of the Royal Academy, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, says: “We are delighted that the impact of Norman’s tremendous contribution to the prolonged success of the Royal Academy has been officially recognized as he celebrates 30 years of service. He truly deserves the honour.”
Norman Rosenthal says: “I feel a great privilege and pleasure especially in remembrance of my parents, who fled to this country in 1939 and 1941, and in gratitude for the extraordinary opportunities given me to pursue my career in the visual arts.
“I owe everything to all the artists, colleagues and friends, both in and outside the Royal Academy, whose help and support have made possible the many exhibitions with which I have been associated through the years. I now look forward to continue serving the RA into the future.”
