Teachers' Workshops

The Learning Department recognises the importance of enriching teachers’ experience and understanding of art and art practice. We offer workshops which develop art-making skills, support teaching in the classroom and encourage teachers to look at and engage with art and architecture.
Drawing and Colour Mixing
Saturday 26 October
Primary teachers can gain confidence in their art abilities by learning about colour mixing, composition and shape through quick sketching exercises and still-life drawing.

Sketching to Clay Workshop: The Human Figure
Saturday 23 November
Using a life model, turn exploratory 2D sketches into 3D clay models.

Painting from Life
Saturday 1 February
This workshop offers secondary teachers an opportunity to come together as artists and engage with painting in a shared studio experience.

Architecture

A new opportunity for teachers to engage with architecture, complementing the unique and innovative exhibition ‘Sensing Spaces: Architecture Reimagined’.

Let’s Talk about Art
Friday 27 June
Through in-depth conversations about works in the Summer Exhibition, teachers will explore subject, materials and execution to expand and enrich their understanding of contemporary art.

Life Drawing
Saturday 12 July
This workshop, for all abilities, will be held in the RA Schools historic Life Room and will look at the wider themes of drawing.
