All students currently studying A levels, IB or Higher and attending secondary schools and sixth-form colleges in the UK are eligible to enter. Over 1,450 artworks were submitted this year from schools across the UK.

‘The vast majority of the entries seemed both thoughtful and daring. It made me feel very optimistic about the future of art! These are the people who are helping us see the world.'
- Tess Jaray RA
‘I was struck by the originality of thought in their engaging works as well as the references made to art history. It is fascinating to know which contemporary, modern and historical artists are admired by the next generation at the moment.’
- Sarah Lea, Assistant Curator
‘I was excited by the level of thoughtful and intelligent entries we were presented with for selection. The exhibition title 'Re-laced' starts to discuss re-visiting ideas, being attentive to ideas and processes, and is defined by the work in the final selection.’
- Amy Woodward, RA Schools student
The Royal Academy of Arts is unique among art institutions in that it is run by artists and architects. With its programme of loan exhibitions, postgraduate art school on site and library and collection, the Royal Academy is a fascinating resource for a new generation of aspiring young artists.
