About the A-level Summer Exhibition Online

This is the only online exhibition in the UK for secondary-school students at A level. It is live on this website from 14 June to 22 August 2010, showing at the same time as the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, the world’s largest open-submission contemporary art show.

All students currently studying A levels, IB or Higher and attending secondary schools and sixth-form colleges in the UK are eligible to enter. Over 1,300 artworks were submitted this year from schools across the UK.

The exhibition has been curated from a shortlist by Royal Academician Richard Wilson, RA curator Dr Adrian Locke, and third-year RA Schools student Rachael Champion.

'The curating session was an eye opening day. I saw each work as an achievement, for they are all linked to mature qualities of thinking such as flexibility, tolerance of ambiguity or unpredictability, and the enjoyment of things hitherto unknown. I say congratulations for this creative display.'

The Royal Academy of Arts is unique among art institutions in that it is run by artists and architects. With its programme of loan exhibitions, postgraduate art school on site and library and collection, the Royal Academy is a fascinating resource for a new generation of aspiring young artists.
