SEN Schools

The RA Learning Department offers tailor made workshops for SEN schools. These are taught by experienced artist educators and include a gallery tour and practical session. They can involve both on site and outreach activities. Multi sensory props, Photosymbols and Makaton are used to support the sessions where appropriate.

'Last Friday I took my class to an educational visit at the Royal Academy. All my pupils are disabled, use wheelchairs and some are visually impaired and non-verbal. The pupils had a brilliant day. The activities were adapted so everyone could participate and join in all the experiences. The tour around the galleries was made into a multi-sensory experience and everyone joined in the art activities in the workshop because they were especially designed to meet our pupils' very special needs. We very much hope we can continue our link with the Royal Academy. Thank you for a brilliant experience.'
