Friends of the Royal Academy

The Friends of the Royal Academy was founded by Sir Hugh Casson in 1977 as a way of providing valuable financial support for the Royal Academy and to allow our supporters unlimited access to our internationally acclaimed exhibition programme.

Exhibition visitors

Indeed, becoming a Friend is a wonderful way to support the work of the Royal Academy and the next generation of artists who are developing their creativity in the RA postgraduate school. The Royal Academy receives no Government funding, and is reliant on the charitable support of its Friends and donors.

Benefits of being a Friend of the RA

“There are many benefits to being a Friend of the Royal Academy, making it exceptional value every time you visit. We hope that you will become a Friend of the RA and we look forward to welcoming you to forthcoming exhibitions.”

- Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, President of the Royal Academy of Arts
