Laurie Chetwood's Paper City
Paper City: Urban Utopias showcases a selection of extraordinary drawings, collages and photomontages that have been produced for Blueprint as part of their back-page ‘Paper City’ commissions over the past three years.
Architects, designers, artists and illustrators including James Wines, Steven Appleby and Ian Ritchie RA articulate their ideas about the city, suggesting imaginative possibilities for the future.
The exhibition also includes new commissions from Peter Cook RA, Chris Orr RA, Marc Atkins, Javier Mariscal and RA Schools students Inez de Coo and Rachael Champion.
Visitors are invited to create their own exhibition catalogue by tearing off their favourite images from the wall.
The exhibition is supported by Stephens & George Print Group
In association with Blueprint

We are launching a competition alongside the exhibition which invites you to submit your own ‘Paper City’. The competition will be judged at the end of the exhibition by architect Peter Cook RA, illustrator Sara Fenelli, Blueprint editor Vicky Richardson and the RA’s Architecture Programme Curator Kate Goodwin. Prizes for the competition include a Crevasse vase designed by Zaha Hadid RA for Alessi and art materials by Daler Rowney.
An accompanying workshop was held as part of ‘The Big Draw’ on Sunday 11 October at the Royal Academy of Arts. A selection of illustrators, architects and designers
whose work is on show talk about their response to the brief and lead groups to create your own ‘Paper City’, which illustrate ideas about the city and suggest imaginative possibilities for the future.
