Trilogy of Failure
Part of Molten States

Julian Rosefeldt, The Perfectionist (Trilogy of Failure / Part III) 2005 3-channel film installation filmed on Super-16mm transferred onto DVD 16:9 loop 25 min 18 sec
Rosefeldt is renowned for his large-scale multi screen video installations. His work Trilogy of Failure, created over a two year period, analyses every-day stereotyped activities by means of surreal deconstruction and compulsive behaviour in which the inherent absurdity of apparently normal undertakings is turned into dramatic play.
The work explores distrust of language as an effective means of communication as portrayed in the stories of three men all adrift, each seeking a purposeful role for themselves.
