The Event Horizon
bar/installation space will be taken over for the evening by groups of guests playing poker. Everyone is invited and a series of tables will be set up ready for participants to play.
Key participants will be temporarycontemporary's Poker All Stars, a selection of guests who make up the frequent poker sessions. These legendary poker sessions have developed as a social artwork, both an art performance as well as real (art) world social interaction. Selections of artist players replace the exhibition process with an alternate 'group show' of the push-and-pull of aggressive playing and strategy. Under-table card video footage from previous sessions at REDUX gallery will be projected in the space. Players are invited to dress to impress.
- temporarycontemporary have produced a special edition scarf for the poker games at GSK Contemporary. The scarves feature Marquis de Sade poker chips caught in a motif of musical notes and retro tears shapes. In a limited edition of 30, the silk 'flaneur' scarf is available for sale at the GSK Contemporary shop and in the online shop.
