In this series, Yao Lu photographs mounds of rubbish, covered in green protective nets, which he manipulates digitally to create bucolic images of mountain landscapes inspired by traditional Chinese paintings. Lying somewhere between classical ink painting and photography, between the past and the present, his work speaks of the radical changes affecting modern China.
