The light-based installation linking Burlington House to 6 Burlington Gardens through the Burlington Arcade is UVA’s response to a commission to introduce ‘Earth: Art of a changing world’ to the public. Onward takes as its starting point our desire to understand the complexities of the natural world. A series of lights in the form of tessellated polyhedra becomes increasingly complex as it progresses from Piccadilly. The work transforms the environment of the Burlington Arcade by casting patterns of pulsating light, and explores energy consumption, scientific discovery and replication.
