Tue Greenfort

Medusa Swarm, 2009. Murano glass.

Numbers of the pink jellyfish Pelagia noctiluca are rapidly increasing because its natural predators’ population has seriously declined as a result of over-fishing and water pollution. Rising sea temperatures in European waters have also brought about optimal conditions for the jellyfish to reproduce. The Danish artist Tue Greenfort directly engages in the representation of climate change by concentrating on ecology and the opportunities and challenges it presents to mankind, transferring this into works that shift our view and understanding of the world.
