Fascinated by a world in physical flux, Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt composed Black Rain from raw visual data recorded by NASA’s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO), a pair of satellites that track interplanetary solar winds and coronal mass ejections heading towards Earth. The work takes us beyond climate change in relation to our planet, and considers the larger context in which the Earth exists, the soundtrack also helping to remove us from the familiar, while stirring a physical response.
