John Robertson presents a new set of text paintings for the Selina Chenevière Fellowship Prize exhibition in the Royal Academy Gallery Café. The words used to form the work, which are often given in the title, are layered, manipulated and erased during the work's making. What results is a reductive abstraction with a particularity of colour, surface and composition that emphasises the language of painting itself.

John Robertson (b.1983) was awarded the Selina Chenevière Fellowship Prize upon graduating from the Royal Academy Schools in 2012. He has work in the Royal Academy Collection and the Jerwood Collection and is currently exhibiting with fellow graduate Toby Christian in ' at Fold Gallery London (until 4 May).
