A selection of etchings from the RA print publishing programme.
Since 2009, RA Editions has published and sold contemporary limited edition artworks by Royal Academicians, graduates and artists associated with the Royal Academy Schools.
All of the prints have been created on site in the workshops of the Schools, in collaboration with its printmaking staff, with the primary ambition of raising funds to contribute directly towards the support of students through the Schools’ endowment fund.
This is a uniquely stimulating environment for all involved; students experience the creation of the artists’ work from conception to completion, whilst the artists are excited by new projects or the experience of working in print for the first time. It is this bringing together of established and emerging artists within the Schools and the energy that these collaborations generate that makes these co-publications in the RA Editions collection so special.
The etchings selected here celebrate the versatility of the medium and its range of styles and interpretations. The breadth of approaches demonstrated encompasses not only the directly drawn poetry of Tracey Emin’s soft ground confessionals and the biting satirical line of Chris Orr, but also the frenetic hand-coloured abstractions of Danny Rolph and the digital and photographically processed hybrid anachronisms by Liane Lang and Mark Hampson.
The full collection of prints available for sale, including works by Academicians Grayson Perry, Eileen Cooper, Gary Hume, Peter Freeth, Mali Morris, Stephen Chambers, Phillip King and Humphrey Ocean, as well as works by graduates and guests of the Schools, can be viewed here.
