Inspiration: The series of photos I have taken were all inspired by the work of the applicants at the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize. I have used the detail in the photograph to highlight the different personalities of the people. Each photo is a different "category" of teenager and how they portray themselves. The work of Diane Arbus also inspired my work as the type of people she phtotographs are aesthetically interesting as well as her presentation, the black and white squared images were mimicked in my work.

Title: Defiant

Description: This image portrays the way in which teenage boys are stereotyped and grouped. It shows their similar rebellious attitudes with their expressions and gestures. As it was not posed for it is more documentary than it seems and has a sense of realism even though it is an expressionist image. I concentrated on the detail, framing and vantage point to make this image.
