Inspiration: Art has always been a subject which I have been passionate about, which gives me the opportunity to explore my views and feelings in a way which I wouldn't usually consider. When I was younger, I would focus on images which only looked nice, whereas recently I have wanted to consider deeper meanings behind a painting. I am inspired by the extremes of the fluctuating feelings which humans experience, the meaning of these feelings and how they can be portrayed. I aim for realism, while displaying an amplified emotion through my painting techniques.

Title: Catharsis

Description: In this piece I wanted to express a shattering noise through colour and shape, which made a statement about voice. As a quiet person, I wanted to let out a feeling which I don’t often express to people. To enhance the ‘roar’ of the piece I cut up the foam board into fragments, and stuck it onto a white MDF board. Inspired by the works of other artist, I added various colours to the lion to create a more excited impression.

Medium: Acrylic on Foam Board, stuck onto MDF

Width: 82 Height: 82

Keywords: Lion, Colour, Fragments, Roar, Voice
