Inspiration: I have been creating portraits that I hope, when complete, will discuss the beauty and effect of scars on different people. My intention is to add the scar on each of my paintings by cutting and sewing back the canvas in an attempt to portray the healing process. I have started to move away from this, also sewing together different portraits and adding details in thread and other materials. I am working towards creating classic portraits and using texture for commentary--to add tone, a story, and a unique mood to the paintings.

Description: In this portrait I used light and dark values to add drama and contrast to the piece. My intention is to transform a human into a porcelain-like, statue-like being. In the coming weeks I will add detail with thread or another material.
