Inspiration: Even before I went to New York, I’ve always had a love of neon, and so for me, walking around the lively and bright city centre it was natural for me to be attracted to all the lit signs and colourful shop fronts.

Title: Five Guy(s)

Description: This piece was in response to the title ‘Essence of the City’, and to me, the essence of New York was it’s nightlife and bright lights and also it’s commercialism and the fact advertising was everywhere and shops never seemed to close. There was a true sense of 24/7 and I wanted to try and capture that by showing this night aspect. I used bleach to create these bright lights as well as fluorescent paints to truly try and capture this brightness and vibrancy
