Inspiration: Colour and texture are the visual elements which enable me to fall in to a dreamlike state of mind when looking at anything I perceive interesting or fascinating. As someone who travels at every opportunity, I am fortunate enough to experience a variety of surroundings, where I obtain a certain artistic mindset. At this point, my pen meets paper and begins to draw up my interpretation of my newfound surroundings. My main equipment however, is certainly my Olympus. My trusty camera has accompanied me through many travels, allowing me to capture that unique moment, which will never be repeated again. Along with travelling, my inspirations form from amazing photographers and artists such as; Olivia Parker, Maggi Hambling, Nina Murdoch and my ultimate inspiration; Peter Lik - a truly fantastic photographer. Along with this, my A-Level study of my coursework theme; Facades; Hidden Truths, Concealed Behind Feigned Reality, showed me investigating a variety of facades, which led me to many interesting works forming, and my attraction to colour and texture highlighted. ‘The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.’ – Aristotle

Title: My Idyllic Paradise

Description: This photograph is a true reflection of my personality, interests and passion as not only a photographer/artist, but also as a person. This photograph was taken in Perth, Western Australia, whilst taking a stroll on Mindarie's gorgeous beach at sunset. I waited for the perfect time, where the colours on the water showed multiple tones and hues, and the sand obtained the bold orange colours, which make this photograph so captivating. The composition of this photograph allows the audiences eye to focus on the horizon and then around the image on to the main features; the ocean and the sand dunes. This photograph featured in my AS exam final piece; Australia.
