Inspiration: I am fascinated by organic form. Looking at an object, I naturally pick up on the organic forms, twists and curves which make it up, and the interaction of them within the object. A fair amount of my inspiration comes from nature, and I capture natural 3D forms into 2D. I love Egon Shiele’s use of line, and that is something which has had a strong influence on my work.

Title: Untitled

Description: This is an aluminium plate etching done as part of my project on ‘layers’. I had been looking at trees as a source of visuals for the project, and used an observational drawing I’d done to develop into the print. The process of making the print was basically deconstructing my image into its layers to reconstruct it onto the plate, and this way of working allowed me to show the relationship and contrast between texture, line and negative space in the different layers.
