Inspiration: I am inspired by paintings, they are my favourite media of art. My favourite artists include: David Hockney, Monet and Emma Cater, as well as many more. I like how these artist use different brush strokes to create different textures and moods with in a painting as well as their choices of colours which work well together. Recently I have been up to London to see the David Hockney which was very inspiring. I have also had the privilege of working with the artist Emma Carter which I found to be a fantastic experience which helped me to improve my painting skills. I am also inspired by nature, in photography and art I like to focus on landscapes or seascapes because I like the organic lines and shapes. Also I like how a landscape can reflect a lot of different meanings to different people, for example to some it can remind them of their childhood or holidays, for others it can reflect history, etc.
Title: Torquay Seafront
Description: This is a seascape, also inspired by the paintings of Emma Carter. It is of Torquay Harbour which is at my local beach, two miles from my house. In this image I used cooler colour to show the time of day and the mood and atmosphere of the night. In the foreground is the shimmering water, this continues to the middle ground where you can see the silhouetted shapes of the harbour and further in the distance is the shore opposite the beach. I the back ground is the sky which is dark and moody to show that it is later in the day, it also reflects the mood and feelings of the rainy dull weather.
