Name: Courtney Lightfoot

County: cheshire
Year: Year 13
Inspiration: I am an A level student at priestly collage currently studying graphics, media and photography. My artwork Im submitting is my A2 photography work. For this project, we were given a choice of six different themes, where I chosen surrealism. Surrealism fascinated me, how it turns the world of photographic perception upside down. Instead of recognizing the camera as a tool of vision and the photograph as an image of reality, the surreal aspects utilize the camera as a tool of the imagination. my influences for my images were photographers such as Joel-Peter Wikten, stefano Bonazzi and a surreal film maker called Maya Deren. Collectively these artist all use the theme of surrealism to manipulate the human form, all using different techniques to do so. These artist were the foundations of my influences of surrealism within human form, I was engrossed of how the imagery changes the perception of how we see the world and the hidden messages they portray. Each artist I used as influence used intense symbolism creating an empowering tone.
Title: Disapearance
Description: For this image, I used the theme of surrealism to create this photograph. Using the idea of people getting lost in their own mind. To translate this theme, I took images of incense smoke along with a portrait of a model and used Photoshop to digitally connect these separate images together, making it look as if the human form is evaporating. I used Stefano Bonazzi as my main influence as he used a similar theme, his images inspired me to experiment with the darker, tranquil side to surrealism.
