Inspiration: From drawing countless pictures of star wars battle scenes from the age of five I have always loved to draw and paint anything that interested me. Throughout my life I have evolved as an artist narrowing down the style I love most. I am a huge fan of art and words, I love the idea of mixing in different images, paintings and people connecting them to what describes them most. This is why I have decided to submit the piece I have chosen as it does exactly that. I am a huge fan of the New York artist Borbay and the more famous artist Nikki Mcclure, both of which have a very similar style. Like Julian Opie I do love the idea of blocked colors but what I love doing most is mixing around with block colors and using other materials such as marble paper together to create a more complicated image. Overall I am inspired by nearly every artist I see and hear of as by seeing them achieve makes me want to do just the same.

Description: This is a piece I have recreated myself using different colors and materials. Originally produced by Nikki Mcclure this piece has not only helped me to understand my style of painting even more but to enjoy what I do. The majority of the painting is done on canvas but the bottom section (the sea) is done my poring ink into a sink full of water and placing paper over the surface. I chose this effect as I though it produced a very sea like wave effect completing the piece.
