Name: William Stocks

School: Cranleigh School

Town: Cranleigh

County: Surrey

Year: Year 13

Inspiration: I am strongly influenced by the works of Laurie Lee, Rene Laloux and Hayao Miyazaki. Through these influences I have been compelled to create works which are centred around the themes of mental and physical journeys which humanity takes. Much of my work looks at the struggle of the human condition, the development of man and the search to discover how childhood influences how one develops into an adult. My work is predominantly sculpture based.

Title: The Journey

Description: The film depicts the journey of mental pain which we all take in life. The set which the figure travels on depicts the two halves of mentality - monotony and pain. The figure represents all of humanity - it carries out the journeys, physical and mental struggles which we all take and have in life. The stripping away of the figure's flesh highlights man's frequent mental and physical exposure to the world through its follies
