Inspiration: I am an aspiring artist & am trying to explore my ideas on the world through creating works. I am only young and have many things to learn; I feel that by painting I am able to investigate & consolidate my experiences, memories and theories into a medium I can use as a backbone of my character. I am inspired by historical events, social issues and conspiracies mostly, as well as studying beautiful works created by others (e.g. Guy Denning or Russ Mills). I also am influenced strongly by relationships and my emotions; my pieces vary depending on what I am trying to express.

Title: Grandma's Youth

Description: This drawing was created at home, after my grand parents had been round. Whilst they were round I had been hit by the sudden realisation of how old they are, and how much life they've experienced. I sat thinking deeply for a while about how people age, and how they are lost, as well as how people's lives influence others and weave together. I wanted to capture these thought patterns and investigate my ideas further, so began to draw. I started creating a portrait of a child, thinking about my grandparents as children and how once they were as young as me. Without me realising, the image developed into an elderly figure with younger characteristics thrown in - an exact reflection of my thoughts of how childhood, adult hood, and old age intertwine, mixing and influencing each other, creating new personalities every day. The drawing shows my views on how age is interpreted in society, and how we all influence one another no matter our years lived, significance, or importance to someone else's life.
