Inspiration: I enjoy to find the formalism within objects and other things; to see where and how the patterns can be hidden until you look for maybe the third or fourth time. I have tried different aspects of finding formalism, such as within architecture, fashion or product photography. This is because I believe that you can see some form of formalism anywhere as it can be pattern, colour, texture etc.

Title: The Maharaja

Description: I travelled to India for six weeks last summer to experience the change of culture to our own, which came as quite a shock to me. I visited many grand palaces and there was a reoccurring theme of having very grand doorways into the entrances of the homes for Maharajas. This doorway is one that stood out to me most, due to the highly vibrant colours and details that can be seen, with more emerging as you look closer. I also noticed a contrast with doorways and the architecture of where a Maharaja lives and where they are buried. The colours are vibrant where they live, so as to celebrate their life and to remind them to enjoy it.
