Inspiration: These works I am showing are few of my works from the past 2 years. In my life I have moved around the world because of my dad’s job and because of that transiting from one to another country, it has inspired me to do works that connects to my own world. These works are influenced by the things that are around me and what influenced me. As a Balinese, artists from Bali and from around the world had influenced me on paintings and other form of art works. Artists such as Nyoman Gunarsa from Bali and Marcel Duchamp from France can influence me in the same time in one painting.

Title: Cendrawasih Dance

Description: This is a close up of a Balinese dance that I painted last year in the theme Freedom. The dance is something I learnt the past years and I have performed it quite a lot in England. Cendrawasih means bird of paradise in English. The reason I picked Balinese dance as my topic in the theme Freedom is because of the freedom of the movement in a dance and especially in Balinese dance, the movement is in every body part, from the head, the eyes, the hands, and the body to the feet. The painting is influenced by Marcel Duchamp’s style on Nude Descending a Staircase, No.2 which in the painting shows movement or animation of a person. Nyoman Gunarsa, an artist from Bali, also influenced me on the way Balinese dances moves in paintings.
