Inspiration: This year, my inspiration lay in mark making and print techniques. My idea has sprouted from looking at a number of life studies, and sketches by the likes of old masters, and modern artists alike. An interest in looking at sketches and traditional drawing techniques arose from the visible absence of a lot of traditional and simple sketches and artworks in today’s galleries. Whilst modern art gains a lot of gallery interest and media coverage, I sought to look back at traditional drawing and sketching techniques whilst approaching said skills with modern methods and media. This came in the form of mono-prints, which allowed me not only to sketch my work, but also include print methods to produce striking and distinctive pieces of work.

Title: “Red, Orange, Yellow, Green.”

Description: In this painting my love of colour is evident. Taking inspiration from Pop Artists, the likes of Peter Blake, colour is the main focus of the image, contrasting the bold block colours with thick black lines adds to the striking effect of the image and adds a sense of urgency to the image.

Medium: Acrylic and Oil on Canvas

Keywords: Contrast, Pop Art, Colour
