Name: Will Thomson
School: Camden School for Girls
Year: Year 12
Inspiration: This image I have selected is a combination of my coursework and my current idea for the exam unit. Before I commenced my AS photography course I had only used film on a few occasions but never taken what I was shooting seriously. I am inspired by Bill Brandt’s and John Coplan's nude studies. Using strong directional lighting, I emphasised the natural form of the body and its contours. This was further exaggerated by the use of the wide angle lens. I have a growing interest in abstract photography. This photograph was shot on film with an SLR camera.
Title: Hand on arm
Description: I shot this frame in my bedroom using my 12 year old brother as a model. I was shooting the human form for my AS level and had used models aged 17 and over previously and wanted to shoot someone a little younger. I shot using a wide angle lens with harsh lighting and an abstract composition to alter the image.
