Inspiration: Growing up helped me discover my passion for art. Throughout my work I express my feelings. It is a way for me to look deeper and discover myself. Art played a big role in my life as it helped me get through moving from my home country to London. It helped me express myself and show my feelings as language was a barrier for me. Creativity is part of my family and I would like to look deeper in it, as towards discovering and improving my painting skills. I have been inspired by artist like Bill Viola and Michael Raedecker. They are extremely different; however looking at them gives me a bigger view and also helps me explore my work by adding more layers and expressing more feelings. Fine art is a subject that allows me to develop and analyze myself. Also it helps me think more critically as different pieces are sending different messages.
Title: Architectural Print
Description: With this piece I wanted to create a contrast. I wanted to have a very bright background, representing happy and very pure feelings. The building I have added I wanted it to be a bit more moody, creating a rather depressing atmosphere. As it is a building in my home country I wanted to show my true feelings towards it. The lino print is moving and it is quite dark, showing a much more negative side. It aims to represent how hard it has been for me moving to London. An artist that I have been inspired by is Gerhard Richter as the background is similar to his abstract paintings. After seeing them in Tate Modern I wanted to adapted them and make them more personal. That’s why I have the building on top.
Medium: lino print, acrylic paint.
