Name: Sophie Greenwood
School: Lady Margaret School
Year: Year 13
Inspiration: A level art was something completely new to me, not having taken art previously. I particularly love drawing and take a lot of influence from the artists of the Pop Art era as I love the big bold works that emerged in the 60s. I enjoy drawing outside of my school study and will hopefully continue as I go to uni in the autumn.
Description: This is a piece I produced as part of my coursework project, looking at how Pop art and politics have had a complex and influential relationship from the 1960s right in to the 21st century. I took influence from Roy Lichtenstein and wanted to produce a bright, eye-catching piece with some political humour injected into it. I also wanted my piece to be relevant to politics now so chose Nick Clegg in light of recent university fee raises.
