County: West Yorkshire

Year: Year 13

Inspiration: Inspired mainly by scientific style evident in the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher, I aimed to produce very formal photos of architectural structures. I used black and white, with high contrast to put more emphasis on the textures in shapes in the photo, contributing to their formal style. This high contrast black and white style was inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.

Title: Canary Wharf #2

Description: This photo is of a single building in Canary Wharf. I used a wide-angle lens, and kept the camera horizontal and stood far back from the building, to avoid the narrowing at the top of the building often seen in architectural photography. I liked the formal pattern of the windows on the building, and the gradient of light on the front face of the building.
