Name: Alice Renton

School: George Watson's College

Town: Edinburgh

County: Edinburgh

Year: Year 12

Inspiration: I am an art student, studying a-level. At the beginning of the course I experimented with 3D forms, taking casts in unusual materials of found objects. Through these experiments I became interested in the way that lights falls on objects, and I found that using sellotape as a material created an interesting effect.

Title: Sellotape Portrait

Description: The idea came from making a sellotape cast of a light bulb. I then tried experimenting in various 3D forms. I tried the technique on a plaster cast of a head, in the style of a death cast. I like the way the light catches the joins of the sellotape which made it an intriguing subject to base drawings and paintings on.
