Inspiration: I am a student currently studying ALevel Art in college. I specialise in drawing, painting and computer media (Photoshop). There are many forms and different types of art that I enjoy, but my favourite type is street art, purely because the art work produced is so interesting and eye catching. The area that I live in is a real bonus because there is so much art that gives me inspiration to develop new pieces of art every time I just take a walk down the down my road. My inspirations are street artists’ Banksy and Mr Brainwash. I was introduced to these artists by watching a documentary shown on television called ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’. In this documentary I learned about how Banksy and Mr Brainwash met each other and how Mr Brainwash got into the street art movement. Before watching this documentary I didn’t really know a lot about street art but after watching it I did a lot of research on the street art movement and the artists’ in the movement. So because I enjoy street art so much I try and incorporate some of the street art elements into my work and merge them together.
Title: The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp Remake
Description: This is an acrylic painting of a remake that I have produced of Rembrandt’s 'The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp'. The inspirations behind this painting were Rembrandt, Andy Warhol and Mr Brainwash. I came across Mr Brainwash when watching a documentary that was showing on the television, ‘Exit through the gift shop’. In Mr Brainwash's work, he likes to play around with other existing pieces of work produced by other artists. One of the pieces of work that he played around with was Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe painting (where he put the famous Monroe features on other famous celebrities). I immediately thought that the concept of the work was amazing so I decided to merge this piece of work with another artist’s work. I started to do some research on other artists and I came across Rembrandt's artwork I thought immediately that this would be very interesting to create, because the style of the two paintings is very different. Furthermore, I thought that the piece I was going to create was going to be able to show the contrast between the art work produced then and now and how they would work with each other
