Inspiration: Since a young age I have always had a camera to hand, my father (a photographer himself) has been party to this, providing encouragement and advice. As regards to influences he is, quite possibly, the most prominent figure; as it is his work that I see most frequently it is unsurprising that he has affected my work in such a way. As a photographer myself I tend towards more abstract work, I like playing with sections of an object and sharp cropping; it is when a photograph is not concerned with a specific subject that the photographic technique is most prominent. I enjoy challenges when taking my images, finding the best possible lighting, framing an every day subject in such a way that it creates interest and/or captures the object in a different way. It is this desire to change the way that subjects appear and feel that has driven me throughout my A level photography course and, hopefully, will continue to drive me through the rest of my career as a photographer.

Title: The Attic

Description: This piece simply entitled 'The Attic' was taken after a series of physiograms I took for my A Level light and dark contrast work, a theme clearly prominent in the photograph. A swinging light in the centre of the room casts a strange glow across to room making it appear very different to how it does in normal lighting. The idea for this photograph came completely by chance, for my folder work it was empirical to capture the set up I was using to capture the physiograpms, however after taking the first image I found the way that the swinging lamp created a ring of light around the room strangely gripping. I like how different light sources can reinvent a space and this photograph is a prime example of this.
