RA Patrons trip to Budapest

6 — 10 April 2011

Following on from the success of the Treasures from Budapest exhibition and arranged by Susie Jubb of SJ Associates, we are delighted to invite you to join us on a highly bespoke tour to unearth the exclusive cultural highlights of the wonderful city of Budapest.

Budapest

Exhibition curator Joanna Norman will join us on a four day excursion, combining unique and unparalleled access with legendary Hungarian hospitality. Susie knows Budapest intimately having organised the state funeral of Georg Solti there in 1991. This will be a rare opportunity to explore this extraordinary city like never before. Due to the highly bespoke nature of this trip, the itinerary is not yet confirmed, but we can reveal six highlights of the trip:

  • The Museum of Fine Arts Director of the Museum, László Baán, will lead a behind the scenes tour. Featuring some highlights of the collection, a restoration workshop and a visit to the storerooms.
  • Reception at the Presidential Palace A totally unique opportunity to see the inside of the Presidential Palace with a reception hosted by the President, Pál Schmitt.
  • Dinner at the British Embassy The British Ambassador, Greg Dorey, will host Patrons for an exclusive black tie dinner at the Embassy residence.
  • The Private Collection of Gábor Kovács Gábor Kovács, a successful Hungarian businessman, has built a vast collection of c.19th, c.20th and contemporary art work, which has been housed in the Kogart building since 2004.
  • The Parliament Buildings The government of Hungary has arranged an access all areas tour of this commanding building, including areas not open to the public.
  • The Four Seasons Accommodation will be in Danube view rooms at the luxurious and exquisitely transformed Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace.

There is very limited availability for this trip, so please contact Jonathan Stubbs on 020 7300 5637 to avoid disappointment. The cost is £2,810 per person, excluding flights. This cost is based on shared occupancy of Danube view rooms at Four Seasons Hotel, all meals, travel within Budapest and entrance to museums and galleries. We will depart from London mid-morning on the 6th April, returning early evening on the 10th April.
