Burlington House
Join us for a day of talks, tours, workshops and discussions celebrating architecture’s special place in this major arts and cultural institution. Learn about Burlington House and the Royal Academy’s collections and exhibitions including the famous Summer Exhibition, whose Architecture Room is this year hung by Sir David Chipperfield RA and features works by renowned as well as up-and-coming architects. Events take place throughout the building – from the private spaces of the RA Schools and Fine Rooms to the grand setting of the RA courtyard and Foster + Partner’s impressive Sackler Wing of Galleries. There is something for all ages, including a number of specially tailored activities for families.

Sketching in the Courtyard
Artist Jeanette Barnes introduces sketching as a means of looking more closely at the architecture around us.
“Midsummer Workshop”
An opportunity for families to take part in a transformation of the Sackler Galleries by contributing to a group installation through drawing and making. An event specially created by Yuli Toh and James Lloyd-Mostyn of Toh Shimazaki Architecture.
Free Family Tour of Burlington House
Families explore Burlington House with Francesca Herrick, searching for clues in the architecture and decoration that reveal the building’s rich and illustrious history.
