In this lecture, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw PRA discusses the important role that drawing plays in his design practice. Grimshaw, one of Britain’s leading architects and President of the Royal Academy since 2004, is renowned for sophisticated engineering-based buildings such as the Eden Project and Waterloo International Terminal. The architect's lecture accompanies a Royal Academy exhibition focusing on 62 of his sketchbooks, revealing how the essential characteristics of his buildings have been conceived in initial concept sketches:
