The work of Honorary Royal Academician Tadao Ando is renowned for its exquisite sense of craftsmanship and attention to the intrinsic qualities of materials. His projects are characterised by an intimate relationship with their surroundings, and the interplay of space and light. This is evident in his first permanent project in London: fountains as part of the public realm improvement scheme of Mount Street, Mayfair, which he discusses in this lecture.
