To coincide with the Royal Academy Schools Show 2012 three graduating artists present THE LOUNGE, THE BOOK, THE ROUTINE.

This event attempts to track and negotiate matter via words, images and structures. Placing us firmly in various linguistic structures, these strategies also question the relationship of those languages to our own experience.

The evening incorporates objects, narratives, re-told histories and presentational forms to create three independent, but interconnecting accounts, which examine the status of these diverse methods in relation
to current artistic practice.

Through a reading, film performance and presentation the artworks respond to the Waterstones, Piccadilly venue.

Works by graduating artists:
Toby Christian, through an ongoing body of texts, describes various spaces and the objects contained within them.

Sophie Michael uses film and photography to colour and guide the viewer’s perception of constructed installations and found spaces.

Carly Bateup’s interest in literary devices and framing is at play with the nesting of the text performance piece ‘Routine 5’ by Beatrice Schulz.
