The Royal Academy is opening the doors of its home, Burlington House, giving visitors a chance to explore its four centuries of architecture. Built as a town-palace during the 1660s on the then outskirts of London, Burlington House has been added to, modified and adapted over the years by such celebrated figures as William Kent, Sydney Smirke, Richard Norman Shaw and Foster + Partners. Over the weekend, special access will be given to the John Madejski Fine Rooms, Library and the RA Schools.
- Open 10am–6pm (Library 11am–4pm)
- Introductory talks: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm (both days)
- Display of drawings, photographs and prints related to Burlington House in the Library with talks at 1.30pm and 2.30pm (both days)
- See the General Assembly Room laid for dinner and the RA Schools Life Room set up for drawing
- Special touch tour: Saturday at 2.30pm
