While upstairs in the Sackler Wing of Galleries Honoré Daumier will be celebrated for his lesser known success as a painter, down in the Life Room we invite Patrons to take a look at Daumier’s more widely known work: as a satirist of political figures and his fellow countrymen. Chris Orr’s own practice as a printmaker encompasses a wonderful humour so it is perhaps not surprising that he is a tremendous fan of Daumier. He will be in conversation with Tony Rushton, former art director and political satirist at Private Eye and collector of political drawings and prints. Patrons will also have the opportunity to view a new limited edition book by Chris Orr in collaboration with RA Publishing as well as some highlights of past Private Eye cartoons.
