This exhibition will examine Russian avant-garde architecture during a brief but intense period of design and construction from c.1922 to 1935. Fired by the radical new language of Constructivist art which emerged in Russia around 1915, architects translated this into three dimensional forms to create architecture whose innovative style embodied the energy and optimism of the new Soviet Socialist State. The exhibition will juxtapose large scale photographs by Richard Pare of extant examples of the new architecture with vintage photographs and telling examples of drawings and paintings by Constructivist artists.
