Gordon Benson RA, chief selector of the Architecture Room, reflects upon the works in this year’s Summer Exhibition and how they might be representative of a cross-section of the architectural profession. He considers what the works and ideas represent of the internal nature of architecture, and how these relate to the broader world in which they operate. The works are used as a catalyst for a discussion on themes ranging from the nature of the architectural profession, its relevance and educational system, to the authenticity of materiality.
