William Morris Exhibition: ‘Story, Memory, Myth’

Friends Only

23 November 2011

Curator Dr Esme Whittaker leads a private tour of this exhibition at Two Temple Place; the theme of the show having been inspired by the architecture of the building itself. Built by William Waldorf Astor in 1895, this neo-Gothic mansion was designed to ‘personify literature in addition to being representative of art, craft and architecture.’ The exhibition explores how storytelling and decoration came together in Morris’s work, and includes books, stained glass and tapestries from the William Morris Gallery.
