Built in 1815, Whitchurch Silk Mill exists much as it did in the nineteenth century. We explore the Victorian building and learn how the mill continues to produce high-quality silks for historic houses, interior designers and theatrical costumes. In the afternoon we visit Sandham Memorial Chapel, which houses a series of paintings by Stanley Spencer RA. The paintings took six years to complete and are considered to be the artist’s finest achievement.
